Dr John Bird - MBBS, FRACGP

Dr. John has been a general practitioner in Gladstone for over thirty years. He and his wife first opened a practice in Toolooa St in 1980. In 1989 he moved the practice to the Windmill Centre and establish the Windmill Medical Centre.

Dr John is involved in the practice administration where he can use his interest in computing to improve the practice. He works three days a week seeing patients and two days doing management. He has a special interest in computing and minor surgical procedures, including vasectomy.
 
 
Dr Lola Kerr - MBBS, FRACGP

Dr. Lola Kerr has served the Gladstone community as a general practitioner for over thirty years. She has a special interest in women’s health, paediatrics, and palliative care, and practiced Obstetrics until 2002.

She works four days a week at the surgery and one day at Gladstone Mater Hospital as O & G surgical assistant.

 

Dr Barbara Panitz - MBBS, DRANZCOG (Advanced), FRACGP, GRAD DIPLOMA (Rural), FARGP

Dr Barb came to Gladstone in 1998. She chose Gladstone because there was an opportunity here to use her obstetric skills to deliver babies and look after ladies in pregnancy.

Her obstetric practice makes up about one third of her patient numbers, with other medical interests including paediatrics, lifestyle choices and their effect on health, mood disorders and gastrointestinal problems.

Barb's training reflects her wish to be a country GP, with formal qualifications in Obstetrics and Rural Medicine. She continues to attend regular skills maintenance sessions, including Advanced Paediatric Life Support certification. This is in addition to the mainstream continuing Medical Education required for General Practice Registration.

Dr Barb also provides education for the Midwives at the Gladstone Mater Hospital, and for Medical and Nursing Students at the Gladstone GP Superclinic.

 

Dr Jann Merritt - MBBS FRACGP

Dr. Jann is a true local and was schooled in Gladstone.
She works part time in the practice whilst also attending to the demands of her family.

 

 

 

 

Dr Astrid Baade - MBBS(Qld), MMed (Skin cancer)

Dr Astrid moved to Gladstone in 1999 and initially worked as a part time General Practitioner until 2007. Dr Astrid then decided to sub specialise in Skin Cancer management, working at Dermotique Skin and Laser Centre for 3 years while doing further study. During this time, she completed the Australian Diploma of Dermatoscopy, attended 2 international Masterclasses of Dermatoscopy and undertook the Advanced Surgical skills workshops run by The Skin Cancer College of Australia and New Zealand (SCCANZ). Dr Astrid returned to work at the Windmill Centre in 2010.

In 2014 Dr Astrid graduated from The University of Queensland's Master of Medicine (Skin Cancer). Currently Dr Astrid participates in SCARD (Skin Cancer Audit and Research Database) with over 5000 lesions logged since 2007, is an active member of the Skin Cancer College of Australiasia (SCCA), attending every conference since its inception in 2007, and participates in the daily Skin Cancer blog. Dr Astrid is an accredited by the Skin Cancer College of Australiasia.

 

Dr Jalal Agha MBChB, FRACGP

Jalal joined the practice in November 2012. He completed his six years Bachelor Degree in Medicine and General Surgery at Baghdad University, College of Medicine in 1989. He undertook his basic training in different teaching hospitals and medical centres in Iraq. Jalal is a Fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. His main interests are: General Medicine, ENT, Skin Checks, minor procedures, Sports and Musculoskeletal conditions, chronic disease management including Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma and COPD, Occupational Health, Women's and Children's Health and Travel Medicine. He obtained his Certificate of Dermoscopy from the Skin Cancer College Australasia and Certificate in Primary Care Skin Cancer Surgery from the University of Queensland.

 

 

Dr Danni Gitsham - MBBS Advanced DRANZOG

 

Danni graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2005. In 2008 she achieved her Masters Public Health and Tropical Medicine; James Cook University. Prior to coming to Gladstone she worked in Darwin, Perth, Karratha and as a volunteer doctor in Papua New Guinea. Danni is a specialised rural GP having been awarded fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2013.
Danni has an interest in obstetrics and gynaecology and has been awarded her Advanced Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRANZCOG), being awarded the prize for outstanding achievement in the oral examination.
Danni delivers babies and cares for neonates at the Mater hospital. She is also happy to do shared antenatal care for women delivering at Gladstone District Hospital.
Dr Dorcas Ajose - MBBS

Dr. Dorcas has previously worked in Gladstone Hospital. She is studying presently for her FRACGP

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Nathan Kanapathippillai - MBBS FRACGP

Nathan has returned the clinic. Originally from Sri Lanka, Nathan has spent a number of years in Australia, having previously employed in Rockhampton before moving to Gladstone. Dr Nathan worked in hospital settings for 5 years before moving to General Practice 3 years ago. He now has his RACGP fellowship after completion of his college exams recently.

Dr Nathan sees patients of all age groups, with particular interest in: Cardiovascular conditions, Respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, Chronic Diseases such as Diabetes, Hypertension and Child Health.

 

Dr Ban Kanan Mohammed - MBChB

Ban is a qualified obstetrician in her home country. She has a great deal of experience in women's health. She has experience in ultrasound which she is gladly able to put to good use in the clinic.

 

 

 

 

Dr Amanda Tait - MBBS, FRACGP

Amanda has moved from Rockhampton with her husband and young family. She is also employed by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine as a medical educator. Dr Amanda Tait is currently on Maternity Leave.

 

Dr Mehru Shakeel - MBBS

Dr Mehru Shakeel is our newest member to the Gladstone GP Superclinic, previously working at the Gladstone Base Hospital. Dr Mehru is currently a Bulk Billing Doctor.

 

 

 

Dr Aamer Sultan - MBBS

Dr Aamer Sultan has a special interest in, and is dedicated to improving men's health to help close the National gender health gap (Australian men dies 10 years younger than women). He graduated in 1992 and has practiced for more than a decade in Australia. Dr Sultan will address your health issues thoroughly with confidence and competence.

 

 

 

Dr Abram Tadros - MBBS

Dr Abram has a number of years experience in general practice. Until recently he has worked at Mount Druit Medical Centre. He was recently granted permanent residency in Australia.

 

 

 

Dr Daniel Kim - MBBS

Dr Daniel is one of our newest doctors and comes to us with refreshing youthful enthusiasm. Dr Daniel studied medicine at University of Queensland and finished his junior doctor training at Rockhampton Base Hospital. Dr Daniel is interested in all aspects of general practice. Dr Daniel is a mixed billing Doctor.

 

 

 

 

Dr Meenal Sukhwal - MBBS

Dr Meenal is new to the clinic. She comes to Gladstone to be with her husband who is also a doctor and works at Gladstone district hospital. Dr Meenal is a mixed billing Doctor.
